You misunderstand. If you apply the net subsidy oil receives to alternative sources you would be applying a stick to them not a carrot.

And it's difficult to get through your ideological haze that government has a role in this country without showing an example.

I do now, and have always thought that government has a role to play in this country. Establishing that idea isn't necessary, and is basically irrelevant.
