Excellent questions, that we should be better asking ourselves, and asking those whose job it is to implement the things that need to be done. IF there are 100+ buildings, wouldn't one assume that we'd need at least a minimum of 4 police per building? Probably more? On a rapid deployment of police for that size of campus, it would at a minimum take 400 campus police, and the town police when called. Are that many available cops in the area? How long would it take to get others from other communities in? Are there loudspeakers on all buildings? it didn't sound like there were any there. Remember in that hour an a half to 2 hours, no one knew who he shooter was....nor where he was. No one knew if he was a student or not.... And in this case, as we see yesterday, after the first two murders, he wasn't on campus per se'. He evidently was in his dorm, getting the package ready, then went to the post office and was there at least by 9:01... If he had heard that the buildings were locked, would he have killed any on campus who were walking around aka Charles Whitman...? How did anyone know then, that there wasn't more than one shooter, and that possibly there were others inside some of the buildings that might have been secured, with students and teachers inside.....target rich environment.... Hopefully, all colleges and such institutions everywhere will be having some thought provoking meetings soon, to discuss some of the problems encountered here, and try to resolve some answers ASAP! It really doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that worldwide terror groups could be looking at the media coverage here, and see major flaws in the system where someone so inclined could do the same thing. This can happen in any college campus or in any business campus ....or any large group of buildings in any given area.
