Then they tell the flock what to do and how to do it. When they spot somebody wielding weapons, or conducting exorcisms, they tell them not to do it because "the evil spirits" will get them. Really, they mean, "You are insane and should just grow and cook your vegetables and leave the thinking to us. We don't want any trouble and you are going to make a lot of trouble with your wacky ideas". I hope your wife doesn't have access to weapons or poisons. You wouldn't want an involuntary exorcism while you are asleep. I do not think Islamic Jihad will be adopting your ideologies any time soon. Unless you kill a LOT of them, [meaning Moslems in general, not just the "Jihadists"], you will not be able to take over their home base. They don't have evil spirits in them. They have conflicting superstitions and priesthoods. They will resist competing superstitions and chimpoid conquest. As they are in fact doing. It is more than a few "dead-enders" as Rumsfeld and co must now be starting to understand. It is Islam. The Umma. You can't "break them down" then "discipline" them. Unless you have a better way, which they CHOOSE to adopt, you are in a genocidal war. That's unwinnable without genocide sufficient to make them so fearful for their lives that they give in and accept being dominated by the new rulers. During WWII, there were LOTS of American soldiers based in New Zealand. There was a resentful expression by the NZers [males] that the Americans were "over-paid, over-sexed and over-here". The women thought them rather attractive, with their gifts, flattery and exotic ways. That was with the Americans on OUR side. Imagine if the Americans were pointing guns at us, killing us and some of our children, busting our doors down at night, sticking their feet on our necks, threatening and terrorizing. It's quite understandable that there is a lot of opposition in Iraq and Afghanistan. The local yokels don't think the USA is doing them much good. Probably wrongly compared with the alternative, but that's how it is. I'd rather have Americans than the untender mercies of Osama's ideology. In many ways anyway. Mqurice
