Actually egypt got gaza and jordan the west bank. It was never intended to be one country and this has little to do with israel. No need for a state however. Perhaps saudis can do better governing it than the jordanians and egyptians did. Little known fact is that in post 67 and pre terrorist days the West Bankers cheered the israelis and though israelis governance would give them a chance for a better life. They hated jordanian rule. But just as in iraq today, inigenous terrorists and thugs made that hope impossible. What a shame. Back in 67 i was in school in chicago and had an arab friend and he talked eloquently of how the jews running the show in the occupied areas would change the world for the better. I thought that problematic but was hopeful. I made the same mistake as my friend supporting bush in iraq.
By the way my friend was lebanese and from a prominent family there and he was assinated a few years later for proposing peace between israel and lebanon. But i digress.
