Dear Chos's roommate a shrink has found Cho to be basically insane and could go postal any minute, killing you and everyone around you.

Have a nice day.

Sully, these kinds of accumulating dots are easy to connect in retrospect (see leftie 9/11 whiners). Not quite so easy when they are popping up in front of different people over a period of a couple years.

It is also not unreasonable (if you and Orwell will pardon the double negative) from an individual freedom vs. state power perspective to make the state jump a few hurdles before they can lock someone away for an extended period of time, so without knowing the facts behind his 2005 evaluation and release, it's not really fair to point fingers at authorities or VT for their handling of that.

That said, I'm sure there are lessons to be learned from this case that will help in connecting the dots, from both mental health and gun sale background check perspectives, in the future.

BTW, when he was detained for evaluation, the box checked on the order was only "threat to self", not others. Relatively minor point, but not irrelevant (sorry George).
