That, unfortunately, is true and is why I believe it behoves us to try and stop the cycle of violence because if it does not stop we will all be in trouble.

My feeling is that the perp was a mentally sick kid who was either not treated or badly treated by the medics who attended to him. I am still not satisfied that someone who was as psychotic at he was could not have been given any treatment whatsoever. I also believe he was either given drugs or took them himself and that these were partially or totally responsible for his extraordinary behavior.

The motivation for the war did not come from the American people but the US government. In the circumstances, nothing that happens will or can change the mind of the government -- it has to change its own mind and that seems most unlikely to happen because the Congress has abdicated its Constitutional responsibility and Bush has his own unswerving, messianic agenda.
