Actually the President and Atty General have the right to fire any lawyer on their staff they want. This is another non-crime non-scandal. Gonzalez's only danger is mistakenly contradicting himself or someone else under oath and being charged with perjury. Bush s/h fired all the federal prosecutors in 2001. Several of the fired lawyers had policies of not prosecuting immigration and drug smuggling charges if they weren't "big enoiugh". The guy in NM drug his feet on prosecuting a major Democratic scandal to protect fellow Democrats.
