States without liberalized concealed carry laws have had crime go down as well, but overall the change was less. In any case my real argument is not "concealed carry causes less crime" (although I think the evidence supports that idea, not as a primary cause of violent crime reduction, but as a secondary factor), but that liberalized concealed carry isn't a problem in terms of increasing crime. Many of its opponents presented visions of wild shootouts and a vast increase in gun related deaths. That didn't happen.

EDIT.Please note that no one is suggesting more guns is the reason.

I'm not so sure that's true, and there are more guns in the country (and probably in CA) now.
