Elroy,

I'd like to get the link indicating they have a sizeable and, more important, deliverable cache of bio weapons. If GR is right, her conclusion is also right; Syria would not hesitate to use them on first impulse. GR is also correct: of all the formal military structures in the ME, Syria is top notch vis a vis their Arab brethren.

Ashad, though "friendly" with the maniacal mullahs, is not that nutty nor are his direct underkings.Remember, without a shot being fired, Ashad pulled his 10k troops out of Lebanon a few years back after the Syrians murdered the pro-western Lebanese leadership, putting that beleaguered country into shambles after a ten year period of peace and growing prosperity ( what the frig is it with these guys? they just hate seeing people having a good time or what ? )...I was stunned and surprised he had that kind of mindset..then, again, on the other hand, he didn't have much of a choice , did he?

So, on second impulse, they may just go : nah.

Syrian overlords live high off the hog and might, just might, want to see Iran go down putting them in a mightier military stance in the ME but, then, that might matter little---with a leveled Iran, they might as well say goodbye to the Golan for this century.

It will be the calculation of all calculations. If they launch the first bio, they are a dead nation; Ashad knows it won't just be a few hundred F 15's flying over Damascus hunting his ass down. But just 2 projectiles putting an end to Syrian culture for a very long time.

I just don't see Syria doin' it.

It's probably what's kept them safe since their military is marginal.
