i don't believe in conspiracy theories. what I meant by my remark is that its a PURE trading vehicle. its not even looked at as a stock really. its a source of ALPHA either long or short. simply look at the trading volume vs share outstanding. there are no long term holders here. that's why you don't see calls for management's head or firing the BOD. you don't see activist hedge funds rattling cages calling for Hector's ouster. the reason is that amd is a lost cause for long term shareholders. its proven over 25 years that it can't create ANY shareholder value. It is in existence for enthusiast rig builders, for its employees who do very well with salary and bonus and option volatility, and as a second source for some OEMS.

It is a Plaything for hedge funds to create alpha with. No conspiracy. Its simply what it is. I look at fundamentals and believe there are NONE here. The reason this stock is up is that hedge funds looking for Alpha have embraced the turnaround thesis, even though they don't believe it. when the worm turns those seeking alpha will short this into the dirt.

With that attitude there would be grounds against the management and the investment bankers for perpetuating investor fraud...you are required to engage in "fiduciary" responsibility that benefits stock shareholders. The shear fact that AMD has been beaten to death by Hedge funds and Intel pricing pressures to maintain a monopoly has led to this sorry state...5 years ago I don't think the average investor would have believed this but since Hector has accomplished little with his business plan it is easy to believe this scenario...

"Buy and Hold" doesn't work for Intel either, it has done zip in the last 10 years. But it perpetually has almost no sell recommendations and mostly buy and hold recommendations from the street. AMD trades in cycles of 2-3 years from peak to valley and valley to peak. You don't have to be a trader to make money with that!

The roadmap for AMD looks very strong. There is no question that Barcelona-based servers will have higher performance and higher performance per watt than anything from Intel when they start selling in Q3. Intel has to get to Nehalem before that will change, if it changes. Penryn and its ilk are simply Core 2 on a smaller process, not a new architecture.

Anyone who thinks that Penryn SSE4 will make a signficant differnce is not thinking properly. How much low-handing fruit do you think could possibly be left after SSE, SSE2, AMD64, and SSE3? Penryn is a non-issue.
