I went to school in DC in 1968 during the riots, any white kid that had to travel though the bad parts of DC were packing. their fathers gave them the guns to protect themselves.

If there is no need for Glocks or semi-autos then how come the police carry them? If nobody ever uses guns to defend themselves, how come the police carry them? If drugs are illegal and there are no legal dealers, how come drugs are commonplace and so easy to get?

It would be very easy these days for anyone without a criminal background to walk into a store, get armed then go out and killed whomever he/she wants. That is insane. There is role for government regulation in our society, and one of the main roles is to make sure that the deadliest products are very hard to get.

It would be very easy for somebody in the police as well or the armed forces for that matter. Does it happen? Very very rarely. The police take guns to work every day...more guns more shooting right? Wrong! When is the last time a police officer shot up a police station. There are guns everywhere!! There are guns everywhere in the military. Where are the mass shootings?

A kid like me was presented Dad's old hunting rifle at age 16 or so and taken out and trained how to use it. Maybe I never killed any animals with it, but as an average American kid I was trained and knew how to use a rifle.

Well, if you never killed with it, did you only shoot your dad? I mean you did say you were dropped off 100 miles from anywhere where game could eat you! Surely you killed something out there just to survive?
