Dutton Associates Announces Investment Opinion: Composite Technology Speculative Buy Rating in Initiating Coverage by Dutton Associates
Monday April 30, 12:45 pm ET

EL DORADO HILLS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dutton Associates initiates coverage of Composite Technology (OTCBB:CPTC - News) with a Speculative Buy rating and a $3.00 target price. The 12-page report by Dutton senior analyst Gerald A. Rothstein, CFA is available at www.jmdutton.com as well as from First Call, Bloomberg, Zacks, Reuters, Knobias, and other leading financial portals.

Composite Technology is a rapidly commercializing, development-stage company, providing technologically advanced products to two intriguing segments of the electrical energy market: 1) electrical transmission conductors, with carbon fibers, rather than the more commonly used aluminum. This reduces weight and, very importantly, reduces line sag between towers, thereby increasing the energy throughput. Although sales are still relatively low, they are growing rapidly and, significantly, major buyers in the U.S. and China are placing repeat orders. 2) a wind turbine using advanced technology that has resulted in much longer time between bearing failures (a major source problems in wind turbines). The most up-to-date version of the product, designed for the U.S., was recently certified and a large purchase order was received in April, with the potential for significant add-ons. With the conductor business cash-flow positive and the manufacture of the turbines likely to be self-financing (via deposits and progress payments), there are no pressing needs for additional financing, although if the stock were to rise significantly, management would probably opt for the additional flexibility that an influx of cash would provide. We expect a small loss this fiscal year (September 30) and next, and then to become marginally profitable in fiscal 2009. With a significant level of corporate overhead to cover, we believe that by fiscal 2010, if, as we think likely, significant sales growth continues, profits would expand dramatically.

Composite Technology Announces Successful ACCC Conductor Installation at National Grid Testing Facility
Wednesday May 2, 11:01 am ET

IRVINE, Calif., May 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Composite Technology Corporation (CTC) (OTC Bulletin Board: CPTC - News) announced today that its subsidiary, CTC Cable has successfully completed its first double bundled installation at the National Grid's test facility in Eakring, Nottingham, United Kingdom. The double bundled assembly was installed with 400 kV insulators and corona rings on twin ACCC Vienna 620 square mm conductors manufactured at Lamifil n.v. in Belgium (www.lamifil.com). These European standard ACCC conductors are equivalent to the US Cardinal 1222 kcmil size. ACCC conductors have been under evaluation by National Grid since 2005 and this installation forms part of the field installation testing part of the ACCC type registration process. CTC is introducing the ACCC conductors into the UK and Irish markets through a subsidiary of Babcock Networks "EVE Group". ACCC conductors are under consideration for their high current capacity, thermal stability, and improved electrical throughput and resistance.

Chris Morgan, Supplier Chain Technical Manager for Babcock Networks Ltd / EVE Transmission Division commented: "ACCC conductors can enable transmission operators to increase current capacity on their lines with minimal changes to supporting structures, reducing capital expense. National Grid has been at the forefront of the introduction of High Temperature Low Sag (HTLS) conductors in the UK and we are pleased to be working with CTC on the type registration of its HTLS ACCC conductors."

Graham Mill, Technical Support Engineer for Babcock Networks Ltd / EVE Transmission Division said: "The installation went very smoothly. The linemen were impressed with the quality of the ACCC conductor and also how easily the dead-end and splice connections could be installed."

Dominic Majendie, Vice President of International Marketing for CTC Cable Corporation, said: "This installation was an important milestone for the commercial deployment of the ACCC conductor in the European market. We are very pleased with the efforts National Grid and EVE Group have made in studying the attributes of the ACCC conductor, and look forward to its deployment on the electricity network in the coming months."
