I hear ya and agree with a lot of your views... What really pisses me off are all the close-minded extreme partisan types on both sides, who like our elected officials spend more time bickering and pointing fingers at each other than accomplishing anything of value.

Legal abortion - not a good method of birth control but people have to meet their own maker and explain
Yes. But see below.

Legalize Pot - waste of money to put pot heads in jail. Take the market away from the dealers who pay no taxes
Meth? Cocaine? Same problem there.

Gun Control - I hate guns - I was shot with one but I don't think making handguns illegal is a solution. We'll created a black market that only criminals will use
Yes. Disarm the honest citizens, then only crooks have guns. They will not be bound by anti-gun laws.

Religion - take it out of politics. No God that we pray to would support war. That doesn't mean no wars but war in the name of god and civil rights doesn't work for me
Agreed. It was out of politics. Roe v Wade put it back in, I believe. At some point, that will probably rank with the Dred Scott decision. It made the Religious Right.

SS - We need to invest SS into areas of growth. We should all own our SS accounts and be able to place them in areas we see fit. Pride of ownership is a great thing.
Yes!

Banking - Banks are making a mistake by dropping credit cards with 10k limits to everyone. I understand that its up to people to be prudent but I think banks must also be prudent. When people get in over their head because a bank has extended too much credit I'm not so sure I want to bail out the banks.
"Moral hazard" enters here. The bank takes the chance of bankruptcy as a result of its own stupidity.

Gays - I don't care if people are gay. Leave them alone. Extension of benefits is where I draw the line. Marriage was always a religious thing. The reason it started being done by a justice of the peace was because as we moved west we didn't have enough Ministers and Priests. Marriage is a religious thing and should not be extended to gay people.
Civil union?

Loss of property - the loss of personal property for the benefit of rebuilding to create tax dollars is wrong. People who own property in an area where developers want to build should be able to hold up developers for the highest amount possible. Thats capitalism and the American way.
ABSOLUTELY! Anything else is robbery by government.

IRS - we should put this out of our misery. We can find a better way to tax with consumption based taxation. Businesses would collect which would lower the amount of tax cheats. The also usually own property so if they cheat we can seize assets.
The argument against this is that it is a regressive tax. Not that I disagree with you.

Global relief - Its time to put an end to billion dollar payments to countries to be our friends. In most cases aid in the form of drugs etc. would be better for the people of those countries. It also would lower corruption by their Governments.
Not sure that would be the effect. The kingpins can sell medicines too. And not necessarily in their own country.

War - don't go to war unless you can answer this question with a yes. If at the end of the day you're not willing to lay waste to an entire population you probably should re-think things.
This, I think is simply an extension of the unfortunately short-lived Powell Doctrine: If your goals aren't defined such that you can tell when you've achieved them, and you don't know how you will get out, don't go in.

Pork - its on both sides and it needs to end. Both parties are responsible - only the direction of spending changes.
Definitely and provably.

More freedom - fewer issues of having big brother watch.
Too general.

Child molestation - 1 event and you're out. Prison for life.
Sounds good. And if you cover it up, like many Catholic clergy did, you share their cell.

Rapists - 2 strikes an you're out. Women are victimized by this process and I don't want that to contune. If someone had raped my ex-wife I would have hunted them down and killed them. She's the mother of my child so I might still be willing to kill over that. I don't understand killing like we had Monday but I do understand revenge killing over rape and child molestation
Agreed.

Alternative fuel - we need a Nasa like effort to get off oil
Let them eat sand.

Death Penalty - in clear cut cases - go for it
Absolutely!

Term Limits - its way past time
Disagree. If the voters want an elected official out, they've got that vote. What term limits do is prevent people from having enough time in their jobs to REALLY LEARN them."
