OK, we're back with more on of An Interview with a "Centrist"

Sully: How about a "centrist" view of the Bush Admin?

Dale: The ideological zeal and purity of the current administration was supposed to solve our problems, not add to them. Now that the verdict is largely in on this bunch, time to look for the next crop, hopefully a more pragmatic leadership this time....

I hope that our next president at least tries to speak to voters like adults...

[Bush] has Cheney in his ear every day chirping about the need for unaccountable executive power, Cheney's old gripe going back to Nixon days. I have no doubt that without that influence, Bush might be the politician he was as a governor, who worked across the aisle to get things done.

Now we just have a messianic partisan crusade to endure for another couple of years until our system mercifully boots out the would-be Grand Deciders of All Things in America and the World. Pretentious clap-trap, the kind that always collapses under its own contrafictions....

Since Ashcroft lost his Senate seat to a dead man, he was just the man to reach for new, lower standards in his new position....

Bush seems like he is still looking for a 50.x% "victory" by using the "Support me or die!" routine. Very old schtick at this point....

It's a pity we didn't stick to that strategic role of using our troops to prevent crossborder aggression, a mission they are superb at fulfilling, instead of grinding our military into a broken machine like we are now.

Sully: Yikes! That's a "centrist" POV!?!?

Dale: There are none so blind, as they say.....

Sully: Man, you can say that again!

Dale: There are none so blind, as they say.....

Sully: Uh, that was rhetorical. And it was meant to wake you up to your ultra-delusional belief you're a "centrist".

Dale: There are none so blind, as they say.....

Sully rolls his eyes & shrugs.

Sully: Any comments on Pelosi's treacherous trip to Syria?

Dale: The Syria stuff is just cafeteria food-fight nonsense. If Bush had been able to intimidate or negotiate Syria into line, he would have some standing to criticize and complain. But now he is just saying that nothing he tried has worked, so nobody else should try anything different.

Like much of his presidency, in fact. And polls and midterm elections don't seem to have any impact on his determination to be the sole decider in our divided government.

Sully: OK, back to the gun control issue one last time. You're never going to take away all access to guns from law abiding citizens. You're certainly not going to get criminals to turn in their guns. There are many contradictions between your POV & statistical evidence showing that more open conceal carry permits coincide with less violence like that seen at VT. Care to explain?

Dale: Contradictions are so messy....government is bad until government is good, or government is good until government is bad, I get so confused....

Sully: Huh!?!?

Dale: This is what real lefties do.

Sully: Ah ha! You admit it! OK, while we're having this breakthrough can you explain why most of your posts on the "Veiw", both your own POV's & the articles you bring there lean so hard to the left?

Dale: This is a fascinating development I had heard nothing about before today.

Sully: Ya, right. I see the Dow is at an all time high. Most experts believe it has a lot to do with the great economic conditions in place along with the fantastic increase in revenues into gov't coffers due to Bush's tax cuts. What does a "centrit" like you have to say?

[Dale Holds up MSM headline that states: "Most Americans See Recession in the Next 12 Months"]

Dale: [sarcastically] Can you believe all these stupid people who don't believe the economy is doing great, and don't support extending Bush's tax cuts? Must be a case of BDS running rampant through more than 100 million people at the same time; quite an achievement for that evil MSM.

Sully: I see. How about a "centrist" view on the faux scandal concocted by libs to discredit Wolfowitz & harm the Bush Admin?

Dale: Something about neocons, they don't get along well with the other children outside their little club. No one seems to understand why they deserve special treatment as a reward for their ideological purity. Or it's just the usual power-corrupts story in Washington.

Sully: OK, so how about a "centrist's" POV on the global war on terror?

Dale: The WOT only holds up because it is spun in a "we will all die" context that strives to defy rational cost calculation. As rational policy, it makes little or no sense as a long-term policy. It only exists today because the incumbents are saying we can't do anything less or we perish. Very melodramatic rhetoric.

The only way the WOT could be sold was to take the painful carnage of 9/11 and spin it into an existential threat which could never really come true, but that doesn't matter. Repeating "they want to destroy us all" is sufficient to scare 51% of the people into supporting whatever Big Daddy Executive says is necessary.

Sully: All experts now agree that both in Iraq as well as in Vietnam that our troops won every single major engagement with the enemy. Many conservative are certain that the media misled the country into the false belief that we were losing the Vietnam war & they continue that trend in Iraq today.

Dale: I love that .... post where someone says we are actually winning in Iraq and the evil media just isn't reporting it. Another familiar red herring from Vietnam days.

Dr. Kissinger already did such a good job getting us out of Vietnam in a timely, honorable manner. Hard to imagine yet another potential president who WANTS Iraq to be the dominant issue of his presidency.

Sully: OK, I thinks that's more than enough for today. Thank you Comrade Baker for your honest & revealing thoughts.

Dale: There are none so blind, as they say.....

Sully: You got that right!
