<arming a large community of often emotional young people>

You have some chutzpah.... look at the lives that were snuffed out. What you are insinuating is they were not emotionally mature enough to defend themselves, only having the capacity to be slaughtered.

I read somewhere today that all that was needed was 1 bullet going the other way to stop the lunatic. How would you have viewed the student that took him out ?

Twisting the legitimate question on the wisdom of arming a large community of often emotional young people to saying "we shouldn't protect ourselves" is specious.

That comment is what is specious.

By your definition, our armed forces are comprised in large part of so-called "emotional young people." Since the world began, nations have been sending "emotional young people" to fight their wars.

The Virginia Tech students I saw interviewed in the past week were rational, articulate and thoughtful.

Why do you fear your fellow citizens?
