The reason I tend to look at what GENERALS say with a jaundiced eye is cause WE HAVE TOO MANY GENERALS. Yep, there are thousands upper echelon officers floating around with nothing to do no troops to lead. I agree, there is absolutely no way on earth we would EVER have a land invasion of China NO MATTER WHAT. I doubt ANYONE knows precisely how many Army grunts we need as so much depends upon World events and our involvement in them (Had it not been for Iraq we probably would be thinking our Army was too big as an example). On the other hand Special Forces are almost always needed for so many situations and USMC is normally the force used for small to medium sized incursions of limited duration. I suspect both Africa and South America are going to provide, in the future, fodder for such troops. jdn
