I went to U of C. where is your sense of adventure? I still miss the barbed wire around my graduate student housing that first year. Only place I ever lived that looked like a combat zone. All those trips where I cheated death- taking the L at the Garfield stop, traversing 63 rd street to get to that fabulous chinese restaurant I could never pronounce. Walking around Hyde Park at night I always walked in the middle of the street, the better to see muggers hidden between parked cars. Never was mugged in 3 years of living there. Also fortunate that no-one broke into any of the appartments I lived in. One think I wont miss was the weather. Easily the coldest weather I have ever experienced.
