well, there you go. An article that quotes two intelligent people with differing opinions. It can happen! That was interesting.

I don't blame guns, or cars, or any inanimate object that comes under someone's control. Like some others on CEnter, I would rather see more prevention farther up the chain, but I think it's really hard to do that effectively. And of course, then the question of privacy and rights comes up, just as it does in gun control.

While there are numerous issues at work here, I would tend to agree with you on the fragmented lonely society theory. Alienation. Smaller or no support systems. Less assimilation into a community.
ALthough I think Cho was just a psychopath incapable of any empathy, and it wasn't society that failed him. He was badly damaged goods and would have been whether it was today, or 100 years ago.
