Britain, France, Australia, and New Zealand all declared war on Germany on the same day- -9/1/1939. Yeah, your country put in a few troops, but if the world had relied on it to stop Germany, we'd be goosestepping now. In case it had slipped your attention, your nation has become much more yellow since then. Probably more so than the frogs. You, like they, could not stand the heat of the Cold War and went missing. From what I can find, you put 140,000 troops into the European Theater. That's not even the size of a single American Army in that conflict, much less a Russian Front. In 1944, the German Army had 12,000,000 men.feldgrau.com You thought you were going to defeat them? BTW, you were late in declaring war on Japan. Even Mexico, Panama, and Cuba beat you!New Zealand was the first country in the world to declare war on Germany Apparently they teach world history poorly in your schools. You seem unaware of something: unlike you, we were not given our independence by Britain. We took it. At gunpoint. WE decide when and if we go to war, not Britain. The USA was very late to realize what the heck was going on and to do something about it. Hardly. Britain and`France declared war on Germany in response to Germany's attack on Poland. Days before, Britain and France had mad a mutual-defense treaty with Poland which that attack violated. On Dec. 7, 1941, Japan attacked the United States at Pear Harbor. Congress declared war on Japan the next day. On Dec, 11, Hitler, in probably his least brilliant brain spasm, declared war on the United States. Congress declared war on Germany the same day.I see that New Zealand had twice as many deaths per capita as the USA I see that we had 80X your population. I also see that 28 countries had a higher mortality rate as you- -some more than 200 times your rate. Where were you? Cowering behind the rocks? You can ask General Patton where our troops were. Or General Eisenhower. There's a rteason a Kiwi wasn't picked for Supreme Allied Commander.Of course, death rate isn't a particularly good measure because the aim of a war is to have the other guy die for HIS country, not to die for yours. But it is near enough for government work. We are big enough we didn't HAVE to put every man, woman, and child under arms to come up with an army. And a good part of OUR population was busily making war supplies for such as you to waste.BTW, if you are worried about Commies, look how the USA electorate votes. It's a bit like the Roman Empire, which killed Jesus, was taken over by the Christians and the Catholic church HQ is bung in the middle of Rome while the Roman emperors are long gone, but evident in stacks of stones around the place HUH? Are you on drugs?????such as where we stayed in France last year. I'm sure you enjoyed the company of those as cowardly as you. When we go to Europe, we specifically stay clear of France, its airports, and its airlines. Not one sous shall they get from us. (Yeah, I know the use Euros now.)More and more and more, central government, Big Brother, regulation and socialist values run the USA. THIS from a KIWI??? Marx should have been born in YOUR country! He's feel right at home! Same as here in NZ. D*** straight! The government spends over half the money [about two thirds in various guises] and owns vast tracts of the assets. I HATE to disappoint, BUT our GDP was $13.2 trillion last year.research.stlouisfed.org Federal receipts were $2.5 trillion.research.stlouisfed.org The feds claim to have spent less than $1 trillion (rounding error or SS and Medicare? :-).research.stlouisfed.org Total (federal, state, and local) receipts were a bit more than $4 triilion.research.stlouisfed.org Less than 1/3 of GDP. Afraid you have us beat on this one. :-)
