The places where people can carry guns openly, or carry concealed, such as Texas and Florida, have seen dramatic drops in violent crime since these measures went into effect and honest citizens could defend themselves, as they are supposed to.

Like I pointed out to Tim, the drop in violent crime in the 1990s didn't just happen to TX and FLA. The whole country experienced a significant drop in crime under Clinton during the 1990s. That all began to change starting in 2004 under Bush. Of course, what would you expect under a president like Bush.
