"Two hours elapsed between the first murders and the beginning of the slaughter."

You know why? They thought they had the shooter. Initially, the evidence pointed at the girl's boyfriend. They were interviewing him and had a search warrant to search his residence when the call came in for the second round.

The largest disaster in the Virginia Tech tragedy is Virginia Tech's law enforcement and management.

Two hours elapsed between the first murders and the beginning of the slaughter.

The families should get lawyers and have everyone involved fired and the facility overhauled.

My understanding is that the first murders were the killing of two people in a dorm room at about 7:15am. Given that, what would you have recommended as appropriate police action once the two bodies were discovered? Va. Tech has ~25,000 students, as I understand.
