If it costs too much from China, buy it from Brazil, or Mexico, or India, or Indonesia or Vietnam or Pakistan or Nigeria, or South Africa, or Croatia, or Iceland, or Canada.

If you buy one bolt, two washers, and a nut from the mom and pop hardware store that can't compete with Home Depot on price, so competes on service, you could have bought a bag of bolts, a bag of washers, and a bag of nuts from Home Depot for more than $4, but put the extra away and use next time, and you save a lot of money.

If you live long enough, you'll use it up. You just have to pay for storage yourself rather than externalizing it onto the hardware store.

If you live in a small abode, well then you just have to suck it up.
