"JMHO--------someone like Cho would of had guns regardless of campus or Virginia forbidding guns--- if not guns then perhaps a home made bomb that could possibly have killed even more people."

It really strikes me how basic reality is completely ignored in these discussions. Rather than starting from the point that 14 year olds with 3rd grade educations and no parenting whatsoever, along with all manner of crazies are IN FACT armed, and have very little difficulty GETTING GUNS, there's a lot of dithering about whether college students are stable enough, the safety classes to be taken, the calibre of gun allowed, the approved type of ammunition, etc. As trite as it is, 'when having guns is criminal, only criminals will have guns' really is how it works.

Personally, I don't own a gun. Don't particularly like them. I had one years ago when I owned a jewelry business in New Mexico and felt the need. Didn't fill out any papers. Didn't take any classes. Kind of like how your typical gang member goes about it today, except I bought mine in a store. Don't remember what I did with it after I sold the business. It was a long time ago.

Totally agree.
You know, I grew up in Lexington, Va, home of Virginia Military Institute. Wonderful young men. They received (I assume they still do) a lot of training and supervision and there is a great deal of pride about this discipline and they also do a lot of disciplining each other, the corps mentality.

I am not sure what percentage of Tech is ROTC any longer.
