I happen to think Bush senior's decision was probably correct.

What do you think about Bush senior's decision to remove Saddam from Kuwait, and then reinstall an authoritarian unelected "royal family" to power in Kuwait? That's the crazy thing - Junior invaded to install democracy, senior invaded to reinstall authoritarian unelected government.

f we had removed Saddam under Bush 1, we would have had the civil war earlier. Not a fabulously attractive option, imo.

We might have had more Shia support if we hadn't betrayed them in 1991 - and a better quality of Shia leadership too.
