oh, and if people don't know about the AMT, and they file returns in April 2008 with too little tax being paid, then I think the IRS should show NO MERCY in prosecuting them! Again, it would be taxpayers in liberal states (with high state and local taxes) that would be most exposed!

What kind of a citizen are you anyway? You sound like a total A-hole. Hoping your fellow Americans get hammered by high taxes? Hoping we get gouged by the oil companies? What is your problem? You really don't give a damn about your country or your fellow Americans at all, do you? And least of all about our environment and future. As for taxes in general, it's not how high or low they are, it's what you get for your money. If they want to raise my taxes $1000 and give me health care, I save $1500 a year. If they want to raise my taxes and get us off oil and coal and onto clean energy, I win doubly. But if they want to take my tax dollars and start a needless quagmire war in Iraq and waste a trillion dollars for nothing, that's criminal and I'm fuming. You need to know the difference. Sometimes government programs save us a bundle. Compare the post office to Fedex for instance. But you don't give a damn about the damage Iraq has caused our country or Bushies squandering and stealing trillions. You only care that the corrupt politicians in the Bush-cheney camp remain in power. You are one of the 20% or so dead-enders left in the country who actually approve of those criminal stinkers. And in doing so, you disapprove of a healthy, honest and efficient America.
