The NRA does not make the decisions nor write the laws. The NRA looks for opportunities to talk to politicians and try to sway them, but the vote is cast by the politician, not by an organization. You have got it all wrong... Common sense moderates are talking to the NRA now trying to get them to listen to reason and let psychiatric background checks be part of buying a gun. The NRA has a decision to make, allow psychos to have guns or not? I wonder what they will do. Do they have any morals at all? We shall see.
