I'm TIC. Sort of. Authoritarian state is authoritarian state.

I wasn't supposed to say that. I already sent mice elf to my room.

Sainsbury's is going electric today as it takes part in the launch of a new zero-emission van for home deliveries.

Sainsbury's aims to switch 20pc of urban deliveries to electric vehicles by September 2008
The supermarket chain has ordered an initial eight Edison electric vans for its Sainsbury's Online fleet. This is part of a green commitment, which aims to switch 20pc of urban deliveries to electric vehicles by September 2008.

It follows a year-long trial by Sainsbury's of a similar larger van based on a different chassis.

The new van has a top speed of 50mph and can travel 150 miles on one battery charge. It was designed and made by Tanfield Group, the Newcastle-based vehicle and aerial work platform manufacturer.

Other customers include Scottish & Southern Energy, which has ordered the Edison for its 6,000-strong fleet, and TNT Express.

The Edison launch emerged as it was confirmed that rival green vehicle maker Vectrix is to float on the Aim market.

The Daily Telegraph reported last week that Vectrix had appointed HSBC before a possible flotation.
