I am not sure about the mental health matter. It's a difficult problem. I would however note that the NRA (and presumably most members of the NRA) opposes nearly any proposed regulation controlling the ownership and use of firearms.


This is a subject where the NRA and the ACLU would work together in all likelihood (believe it or not they have aligned in the past as well) - the ACLU would see a database as an invasion of privacy - even though the form to purchase a gun asks mental health questions - the answer is not checked in any way.
