I believe, that if the price of gasoline at the retail level continues into $4 here in the midwest, there will be a paradigm type spending shift in the economy.

I just paid the most per gallon I ever have, and I am not happy, but what will people that are living week to week do?

These prices are are like a bleeding cut that won't stop.
_________

It also seems to me the indexes are at a tipping point.
My problem is I don't know which way they are going to 'tip' first.

The fundamentals have been eclipsed by too much liquidity.

Alert level is yellow.

The talking heads on cnbc keep talking about oil/gas etc and Cramer said this morning on the air that gas prices have already peaked.
It would be nice if he is correct, but I doubt it.
The lowest grade of gasoline has an avg cost of $3.54 in the Chicago area currently, a new record!

And we will see shortages due to the many different formulations to comply with EPA regs, possible hurricane disruptions, possible terrorist hits, etc.
