I misunderstood your comment; I thought you were saying that the portion of the US electorate that feels we are losing the war wants all those bad things to happen. That argument is often used by those on the other side, who rely on a false assumption that if we just do more and more of what hasn't achieved those goals the last four years, we must inevitably succeed. They use two straw men, i.e. anyone who disagrees must want bad things, and saying we must win means we will. Different issue from what you meant.
