"give another alternative" Well, just not doing anything comes to mind. The odds of something like this happening is very small. And it isn't clear that concealed carry would make a difference. In most of these killings, the killer is prepared to die. So they aren't going to be deterred. And the people carrying, unless they are well trained and don't panic, are likely to make the situation worse. But, you are the one who is frightened of seatbelt extenders and chipmunks. Dealing with things pragmatically doesn't seem to be your strong suite.
