In yugoslavia our job was to see the separate states survive and thrive. We can continue to support the kurds, encourage the shiaa to stay separate from iran or to accept their wishes if they want to confederate with iran in some fashion. Anbar and Bagdad offer other challenges as we need to kill al quaeda while trying to create a viable state there.

it is our job to ensure that the Shi'a dominated government is required to become more inclusive of the Sunni and Kurdish minorities. Yeah? Who elected you guys King, Dictator, Grand Poobah? The most rational argument I've heard to date is that the US didn't just PREVENT civil war it CREATED civil war. The Bushies made it clear with de-Baathification, arbitrary make up of the artificial governing council, disbanding the army without pay and refusal to allow actual elections for made up reasons that the Sunnis would become permanent second class citizens. Even families that were mixed Sunni-Shiite went to war...inside the family. Now that you nimrods CREATED and then INFLAMMED the divide you want endless time and taxpayer money to QUASH it? What a joke. You guys couldn't find your way out of a paperbag. Stand aside and let the adults run things now. You've made your mess and you don't get endless chances to try and 'fix' things.
