By focusing on the companion issue, they slide over the multiple other issues that have made his tenure at the WB so controversial.

You make controversial sounds problematic. He's trying to change an entrenched bureacracy to be more productive - of course that causes controversy amongst the unproductive entrenched bureaucracy. That's good, not bad.

Most institutions I've been up close with have a mixture of sorts--including some staff that are perceived by everyone else to be quite level headed. Wolfowitz lost the levelheaded ones. The Financial Times had a short biographical tidbit on the WB vice president that called, publicly, for his resignation late last week. As the Financial Times presented it, he was speaking for the "level headed" crew.

So the World Bank is full of level headed employees and, others....the non level headed group? That's silly.

Read what you are writing, and imagine it in a public forum. "Hello, I represent the level headed minority at the World Bank. Most of my team has quit. Please fire Wolfowitz because..........no Bank staff member is able to work under him because they are consumed with hatred when they think of him. Please fire him."

That sounds ridiculous, but that appears to be your position.

And my guess is that he was saying the controversy has reached the point that the WB can no longer function with Wolfowitz in office.

Anyone unable to do their job as a result of their personal opinion of Wolfie should be terminated. Replace them with people who can do their job regardless of their opinion of Wolfie.

Have you ever been unable to work due to your personal feelings about a person 3-4 levels above you in the organizational chart? I hope not. The whole idea is ridiculous.
