To: philv who wrote (17634 ) 4/24/2007 3:03:30 PM From: Slagle Respond to of 220131 philv, I don't see how you can say that my attitude is "superior and self righteous". I want you to have your system there, whatever it consists of, it is yours and it belongs to you. Your attractive stamps and coins with the picture of the English queen, your single payer healthcare system, your paternalistic social environment with all the gun laws and prohibitions against "hate speech". I don't think that what you have there is wrong or should be changed to our system in any way, it reflects your heritage, which is quite different from ours. You should be, and probably are, proud of your system. I just don't want it here, any of it. It is your and thereby belongs to you, not me. You have single payer healthcare. Strictly speaking, the doctors are not government workers, but in practice most of them are or might as well be, similar in some ways to our Medicare system for the elderly, but applied to everyone. There are government waiting lists for all sorts of procedures. Compared to here, it is a government system with government doctors. It is your system and probably a wonderful system. But it is yours and belongs to you, not me. I don't want it. You lock up people for "thought crimes", not long ago a Canadian was extradited back to Canada from Tennessee for "holocaust denial". Maybe the man is a liar and a nutcase, but each and every one of us have a right to our opinions, whatever they are. At least that is how it is in my country and I want it to stay that way. So there again, if you like that system, please keep it up there. Imus was fired by his employer, he was NOT pursued by the government for saying something illegal. Nothing wrong with firing an employee, at least not in my country. Our media, though, is a disgrace, but that is another subject. Slagle
