I see Bush as a symptom of a disease has always been with us and always will be. It started to come to Bush-fruition starting with Reagan.

It's the idea that other people are the enemy and that dog-eat-dog competition, lying, stealing, killing, squashing, demonizing, defeating is the right way to live your life. Since others are the enemy, you are justified in doing anything to 'win.'

This has morphed into the erroneous idea that only 'competition' creates the best in people and that dog-eat-dog capitalism somehow makes the trains run on time and the best products come to market. This is patently absurd. The vast majority of human activities are cooperative. Dog-eat-dog capitalism creates monopolies which create garbage.

I do not see any particular benefit from having people who think like this in society. I do, however, see much harm. I do not want to play pattycake with this kind of mentality, I want it to go out of fashion and stay out of fashion. There will always be extremists but I don't want them in my life or in my government.

The Reagans, the Roves, the Gingriches, the Bushies, the Delays, the Abramoffs, the Lays, etc. play a filthy game. Now that they are on the decline, it's too late for them to say....can we play nicely...please?
