Anybody ever tell you you are real screwball? I thought I was about as clear as one could be. Unlike most nations America is a hodgepodge and in the past 50 years our hodgebodge has swung from European immigrants to Carribean and South American and Mexican immigrants (legal or otherwise). these people, particularly the males have a high death rate, that pulls down the numbers. The midwest, still often populated by original european immigrants usually has a much healthier group of people, I think one or both of the Dakotas for instance, lousy as the weather is has a higher longevity record then say Fla. jdn

national averages are not national ligit averages.

many countries with social medical programs do not count the extent we do. many abandon the elderly, they get little to no health care and do not fall into their death statics in hospital care for example. they die at home , the same happens with premature babies.. we take extremes to try to help babies born within thirty weeks etc.. many countries would just abort and or let the woman miscarry. so our medical costs are sky high and life expectancy is lower in hospitals because of the high risk and extremely ill patients that never make it into other country statistics.

to understand life span averages in other nations i would like to see a table explaining how these numbers are developed and compare each nation on same input.
