"Chris, what I am saying is the US should take an active role, even if they have to arm-twist Israel into agreement."

That would be great. Is there any politician running for President from either party advocating this? Unfortunately, no.

Put in our bases and sit on our rears. Fun and games over and no more loss of American lives to maintain Israeli security.

An interesting idea, but how does it change things? The Palestinians kidnap an Israeli, what does the US base do? The Palestinians launch a few rockets into Israeli villages, what does the US base do? The Palestinians demand the right to live in Israel as equal citizens if they so choose, Isreal says no way Jose/Abdul, what does the US base do?

In other words, aside from forcing Israel out of the West Bank, how does a US base in Isreal encourage the Palestinian and Arab population to accept the idea of a Jewish nation where Israel is located?
