Baldwin leaves talent agency By Steve Gorman

Days after Alec Baldwin's ranting voice-mail message to his daughter surfaced on the Internet, the actor has severed ties with his longtime talent agency, a spokesman said on Tuesday.

Baldwin's publicist, Matthew Hiltzik, denied there was any link between the actor's decision to leave Creative Artists Agency and the storm of media attention sparked by the private phone message made public last week by Web site TMZ.com.

"This is purely a personal matter," Hiltzik said. "It has nothing to do with his very talented agent at CAA, who has done great work for him."

CAA represented Baldwin for several prolific years spanning roles in such critically acclaimed films as "The Cooler," "The Aviator," "The Departed" and "The Good Shepherd," as well as a recurring role on the hit sitcom "Will & Grace."

Baldwin, 49, who currently stars on the popular television comedy "30 Rock," is not immediately seeking representation from another agency, Hiltzik said.

CAA's client roster still includes Baldwin's ex-wife, actress Kim Basinger, with whom he is waging a bitter, six-year battle over custody of their only daughter, Ireland. The 11-year-old girl lives with her mother.

The family dispute burst into the open last Thursday when TMZ.com posted a recording of a blistering phone message Baldwin had left calling his daughter a "rude, thoughtless little pig." Baldwin said he was furious at not being able to reach his daughter for a prearranged phone conversation.

A Los Angeles family law judge who listened to the tape suspended Baldwin's visitation rights last week and set a hearing for May 4, at which time Baldwin could face further restrictions on his contact with the child.

A separate court hearing was set for June 5 on how the voice-mail tape was released to the media.

Baldwin has since made amends with his daughter, Hiltzik said. The actor publicly apologized for his temper with a statement on his own Web site and accused Basinger of leaking the voice mail tape to the media in defiance of a court order.

Basinger denied through a spokeswoman that she released the tape or that the recording was sealed under a court order.

Hiltzik called that statement a "non-denial denial" because the tape's content was sealed and Basinger did not explicitly rule out a leak by a lawyer or someone else close to her.
