Nad
my conclusion is that the bribery is ancillary. It's too bad you come up with such a bizarre conclusion from text right in front of you. It's no wonder you have a problem with history.

My conclusion is that there was probably bribery and illicit dealings on both sides. If one cared, one could have tried to ferret out the truth. If one could not do that, then the best thing to do is to wait until the appropriate information could be obtained. In hindsight it's obvious that the defective information on "your" side was inferior to the information on mine :-) I can understand why you don't like hindsight. Being wrong is a bitch. But defending being wrong, now that's just crazy, Nad.

"Well, why don't you just listen to Al Jazeera then, their director was on SADDAM's payroll

yuuuhooo, Oh Nadine... Saddam is dead. Lot's of people have been on the payroll in lots of places where they no longer hold an allegiance. Al Jazeera is a news source. Some of it is slanted against the west, some of it is not. It is another viewpoint and it covers lots of news that we don't see in mainstream America. Lots of people who contribute to FOX news have done weird stuff, and worked for other people. I don't watch it often but I like the around the world in 2 minutes news segment and don't give a hoot who the producers or advertisers represent. Mussolini is dead too so its ok to wave at an Italian once in a while now. etc etc etc
