Actually not a surprise that vets are very cautious about getting into war. In this case they were right, but not always. There were plenty of isolationist vets prior to WW2 and giving FDR the wrong advice. Thats one of the reason we have civilian control of the militart which serves us well until we have our fiascos. In vietnam military helped get us in the war and in iraq, military opponents were let go. No point in the above just a reflective comment.
