My parents were not good role models for automobile purchase prudence. I drove three owned vehicles from age 18 to age 45. All three were purchased new and all three were driven for multiple years.

The most recent car purchase, a used 1997 Crown Victoria with 17,000 miles on it cost less than 50% more than my first new 1970's Honda Accord.
