good luck.. hope you enjoy the house it sounds great. i had one , decades ago, on 18 fairway , i bought it as a ranch , wife couldn't climb stairs and the guy had the basement all finished off into night club, velvet walls, powder room , kitchen, murial hand painted painting on burlap entry, about twenty cocktail tables wet bar, painted hung ceiling, red rug throughout. really wonder, must have put a ton of money into it. I low balled him by 30% i think. a few days later broker called me to counter my offer. i told him to forget it, the house was too big and i cannot afford it. he called back in 5 minutes and told me i bought a house. i couldn't believe it. four bedroom brick rancher, huge family room formal dining room and living room. i also offered him $250. for drapes and living room furniture as i didn't have anything to fill the house. He wanted $500. for the fake plants throughout the basement and tables and chairs. told him i couldn't use them as wife couldn't climb stairs and that was why i was interested in ranch. he left it all their. i found later guy had eight leans against his house. i waited at closing while contractors were down the street at another bank getting their money to clear the leans.
so i was the only guy who cut his lawn while everyone else had their businesses on the street and big bucks. i could care less. i got comfort for the little woman. g
ps i was offered membership in golf course.. hell i couldn't afford to eat there never mind join. g

two years later had to move to alexandria va.. double cost of housing and half the size.

That is good buying. Of course you were taking a gamble buying it only half seen. My house was built for me by a cheap builder of big houses after we learned that we were having twins.
