As I said earlier, I only have her comments on this subject to work with, no other context. I never heard of Laurie David until today. she was doing a rather cruel (say nothing of crude ) parody of the "we must make sacrifices to save Our Mother" crowd Now that's an interesting comment. It assumes that the "crowd" is humorless. I know that crowd pretty well, at least I used to. I agree that they can become instantly humorless when facing challenges. But among themselves, they can have a sense of humor and even a sense of perspective, albeit rather limited. In her blog she may be speaking "entre nous," in which case it's entirely possible that she was doing a jovial parody. You have a point, butt doesn't prove anything. As an aside, I had an odd conversation over lunch yesterday with my favorite gun carrying, right wing radio listening friend who practically knocked me off my seat by telling me that his son had seen Al Gore's movie and been converted. My friend seems to have caught the bug from his son and refused to hear any argument from me because I hadn't actually sat down and watched the damned thing. All I could think of was "et tu?". LOL]
