Read my post to Ten. We need LONG TERM solution to LONG TERM problems. Drilling for oil in ANWR is a SHORT TERM solution to a long term problem. Here's a thought experiment. You are a heroin addict and you are coming down from yesterday's high. You feel awful and you are craving heroin very badly. So what's your solution? Do you pick the short term solution of going out and buying more heroin to solve your long term problem? Or do you try to overcome the addiction? It's analogous. Addicts don't admit that the source of their addiction is the problem. Only unbiased 3rd parties can look on and identify the root cause. In our case, the US oil dependency is the root cause of our economic dependence on very unstable Muslim countries, our national security is at stake as we fund both sides of the war on terror, and the climate is being adversely effected by our runaway greenhouse gas emissions. Let's solve the root cause, not the symptom.
