It's possible Crow and Laurie David were riffing off each other while high. That is the kind of banana headed stuff one comes up with after smoking a joint. If that's the case, this should be a good lesson for them on posting while high...

I have a couple of eco-doctrinist friends. I will ask them.

I asked via email and each answered. Yes, it Crow was joking. No, there was noting insulting nor hurtful to true believers in the joke. Didn't get any further elaboration.
