More help with PE please?

Damn I wish they would standardize this figure. It's always confused me.

Could you enlighten me or send me to a site where the math is discussed?

I thought the PE was calculated using current earnings over today's price.

Does Yahoo display the PE they way most reporting companies display it or is there a wide disparity?

OK EVERYONE I got confused there for a moment. Thanks for clearing it up.

I'm coming from a garage sale kind of viewpoint of economics.

Seriously. Is this underpriced because of the sellers ignorance? Am I dealing with someone who knows more than me?

I'll give it a couple of days and hope that today's exuberance for Apple is tempered by some profit taking and ignorance. Looks like a little of that happened at the end of today's trading.

So many here are better at this than me. If I've learned one thing about the market here, it's that I'm competing with people, most of whom know more than me and follow the stocks way more closely.

I'm thinking about buying a work of art instead or in addition. Believe it or not it seems like a much safer investment. I think I know more about that field. The question is can I worm my way through the backdoor into buying the best.
