An amusing thing I found while I was researching New Zealand. Apparently the Labor party took over from the conservatives in the early 1990s. Part of their platform was privatization, cut the tax rate and simplify the tax code and deregulation. Net result, an economy that wasn't doing so well, promptly took several torpedoes, rolled over and sank. It took years for the economy to recover.

The Labor party cut taxes? That's surprising. I thought tax cuts were mostly the domain of conservatives.
