Only criminals carry knives or weapons here for self-defence, other than a few who are paranoid and I prefer they don't have their weapons. Police have weapons too, though not carried. These days a lot of them have guns in the boot of their cars and armed offenders squads are ready to go at short notice. They are well aware of what the outside world has to offer and they don't want any of it. > They just love the freebies, like modern medical treatment, welfare state, supermarkets. You can look in all their back yards and won't see many vegetable gardens.
