I keep one pistol in the drawer of a table near the front door, and one in my bedroom. Pistols are good for up close and personal, easier to grab and get ready, easier to aim, harder for the assailant to grab and take away.

If I was going to use a long gun for personal protection, I'd use a shotgun, not a rifle, rock salt in the first chamber, buckshot in the second.
