The investment community is filled mostly with idiots. :) Investing is all about making money. And a lot of smart people work in the investment community. Smart people who work purely to make money are idiots because they spend their entire life and their ample brain power chasing pieces of colored paper. How dumb can one get. Smart people who are not interested in making money are stupid working here because they spend their days driving toward things they don't really care about when they could otherwise. Maybe they can put their brains to something good the next life. How stupid can one get. Investing should be left to people like me who can't play concert level piano, or hit the high inside fast ball, or dissect behaviors of chimps, or has PhD in quantum mechanics, math, cognitive behavior, french history, etc. etc. I can't do anything else. I invest because that is all I know and it beats cleaning toilets. What does a super bright guy like Taleb tell his mom about what he does? His mom would tell him to do something with his life before it is too late.
